Job Description
We are currently working with a Global Manufacturing firm who is looking for a Laser Manufacturing Engineer. You will be overseeing the technical alignment of the system to make it more efficient. Responsibilities:
- Oversee the seamless transfer of new products from design engineering to manufacturing sites for mass production.
- Develop and assess manufacturing processes, utilizing knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials. Collaborate with design engineering, equipment vendors, and production and field service teams.
- Create assembly process flows, descriptions, and work instructions.
- Resolve daily issues promptly to facilitate the smooth fulfillment of production orders.
- Enhance manufacturing efficiency through the analysis and planning of work flows, space requirements, and equipment layout.
- Ensure product and process quality by implementing appropriate testing methods, analyzing process capabilities, establishing standards, and validating manufacturing processes.
- Apply process control, such as statistical process control (SPC), to monitor, analyze, and refine processes, reducing variability.
- Review production rejects, make decisions, and take appropriate actions for disposition.
- Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing failure/defect information and trends, and follow up with corrective/improvement actions.
- Submit engineering change orders (ECO) to refine processes and parts.
- Determine calibration and maintenance processes for production tools and test equipment.
- Provide technical support to field service teams.
- Develop and implement continuous improvement projects, employing a systematic approach to problem-solving.
Requirements:
- Proficient knowledge of solid-state and fiber-based lasers.
- Strong understanding of precision optics, including lenses, polarization optics, modulators, optical harmonic generation, and laser cavity design.
- Hands-on experience with the assembly and testing of optical, electro-optical, electro-mechanical, and laser systems.
- Familiarity with the use of multi-meters, function generators, and oscilloscopes.
- Ability to read and comprehend mechanical drawings and electrical wiring diagrams.
- Good understanding of manufacturing best practices (e.g., ISO 9001, Kanban, LEAN, 8D, Design-for-Manufacturability, etc.).
- Bachelor’s degree and above in laser, optic, or electro-optical engineering.
- Experience in laser systems manufacturing.
